Donna E. Soxman
Owner

After growing up and attending business school in South Norwalk, CT, Donna worked for Trak Electronics. She entered the Navy in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1969. During her enlistment, she met Thomas J. Soxman in Newport, RI. Donna and Tom were married in 1969 and moved to Pittsburgh shortly after, where they raised two sons, Brian and Mark. Beginning in 1992, Donna started working at the funeral home with Tom and at his request maintained records and accounts. Outside the funeral home, she spends her time quilting, bird watching and playing with her grandsons Troy and Fritz.

Brian T. Soxman

After growing up in and graduating from Penn Hills High School, Brian attending Point Park University with a major in Biology. He graduated the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1998 and joined his father, Thomas J. Soxman, in their family business. He is a member of the National, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Funeral Director Associations (NFDA, PFDA, ACFDA). Brian proudly heads the membership committee at the Penn Hills YMCA and is currently Vice-Chair of the YMCA Board of Directors. Brian and his wife, Brooke, have two sons, Troy Thomas and Fritz Harper. He and his family are members of Unity Presbyterian Church, Plum Boro.

Deann grew up in Monongahela, and now resides in Jefferson Hills Borough with her husband, John, and son, Eric. She graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1993 and began her career in funeral service as an intern at Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd. She is a member of the National, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Funeral Director Associations (NFDA , PFDA, ACFDA). Because of her strong beliefs in continuing education, Deann voluntarily joined the Academy of Funeral Service Professionals and received her CFSP designation in 2002; which she maintains by achieving twenty credit hours annually. Deann also heads the advance funeral planning program for the funeral home. Over the course of her career, Deann has helped and supported numerous families through difficult times. This was most apparent when she, as a funeral director and proud American, volunteered her services, through PFDA, at the crash scene of United Flight #93 in Somerset and Flight #427 in Hopewell Township. Her outside interests include bowling, camping and fishing with her family, spending time at the beach and entertaining friends at her home. She is a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and is active in her son’s school and sporting activities.

Anna F. Zvirman-Nesbit

Originally from Plum Borough, Anna was a 2003 graduate from Plum Senior High School. In 2006, she graduated from Slippery Rock University with her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After enrolling at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where she served as President of her class, Anna graduated in September 2007. She was a recipient of the Mu Sigma Alpha Award in recognition of Outstanding Academic Proficiency. She is a member of the National, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Funeral Director Associations (NFDA, PFDA, ACFDA). As a certified funeral celebrant, she provides families without a church affiliation or those looking to create a personalized service a unique way remember their loved one. Anna also coordinates the funeral home’s Aftercare program. Her outside interests include spending time with her Puggle, Pepper Louise. She also enjoys baking and cooking. Anna and her husband Jim reside in Plum and are members of Our Lady Joy Roman Catholic Church where Anna serves on the bereavement ministry.

Robert G. Mayer
Licensed Funeral Director

Robert is originally from Youngstown, Ohio. He was a 1960 graduate of Boardman High School. He received his pre-mortuary education at Youngstown University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology and Business. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1963 and served his internship with Davis-Velker Funeral Home in Boardman, Ohio. In 1967, Bob received his B.A. Degree from Youngstown University as a Biology Major.

Bob has held numerous positions in the funeral industry throughout his career. From 1967 - 1980, Bob was a Full-Time Instructor for the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

He also served as an instructor for preparatory courses for the PA State Board Examinations and for PA Mortuary Law for Preceptors. From 1980 to 1982, Bob was a part-time instructor for the school and from 1980 - 1998, he provided instruction at the Pittsburgh Institute for Ohio Mortuary Law. Throughout his career, Bob has always provided embalming service for many funeral homes in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

Besides being an instructor and embalmer, Bob is very active in his profession as a consultant for the preparation of the State Board examinations, evaluations of new embalming products, consultant for curriculums for several mortuary schools and above all is the Author/Editor of the textbook, "Embalming: History,

Theory and Practice." He has also had many articles published in funeral service publications throughout the world. Bob is also an active speaker and conducts demonstrations at various seminars and conventions all over the world.
