Age 76, born April 30, 1933, of Penn Hills, on Sunday, March 7, 2010 after a short but courageous battle with acute leukemia. Joe retired as a superintendent from Norwood, Inc (Pittsburgh, PA, Beckley, WV and Annapolis, MD,) in 2001 after 30 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Elizabeth (Pongrance) Gula and Children, Joseph A. (Donna) Gula, Linda (Joel) Brayton, Jane (Sean) Kennedy and Patricia Gula; he also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Joseph V., Dena, Jodi, Kaitlyn, Madison, Sarah, Joel,Jr., and Lucy; as well as a brother, John (Norma) Gula, a sister, Kathy (Bob) Kuhn, a brother-in-law, Bill Sacsek, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John, Jr. and Mary (Tomlin) Gula and sisters, Jeanie (Frank) Chiodo and Anna Sacsek. Those who knew him will miss his great personality and his trademark smile. On Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, age 49, of Monroeville. Survived by beloved only daughter Emmy Elizabeth Schultheis; son of Richard J. Schultheis and the late Margaret Emma Schultheis; brother of Charles E. Schultheis, Mark (Judy) Schultheis, Jack (Jacklynne) Schultheis , Susie Schultheis, Ronald (Sarah) Schultheis, Daniel Schultheis, Mary Schultheis (Rick Rullo), Steven Schultheis and the late Richard Schultheis Jr.; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ike left the area at a young age for Ocola FL. to work in thorobred horsing. After training and a lot of hard work, he obtained his training license. He traveled to Tampa Downs where he raced the thorobred he and his father owned. He was racing at all the major tracks- Tampa Downs, Gulf Stream and the Meadowlands in Atlantic City- and his family was able to travel and see him train and enter his horses. Ike decided the constant moving from state to state was not for him and he went for an adventure to Alaska to work the fishing industry with his brother Jack. That involved fishing boats, processing plants and shipping of salmon and halibut, but his heart always led him home to the family business. He returned to work with his father and he worked his way up from laborer to Vice President. Ike loved life, golfing, fishing, hunting, horses and family. He took his daughter Emmy and nieces Kate and Hannah on vacation from the time they were little girls. He was on the S & T Advisory Board of Directors and long-time golfing member at Alcoma C.C. Walsh Tom (Audrey) Bertovich; grandfather of Rich "Richie" Walsh, Greg Walsh and Marissa Bertovich; great grandfather of Bailey Madison Walsh; brother of Rich Bertovich and the late Carl Bertovich. Tom attended Duquesne University and was a member of the Duquesne Tamburitzans. He performed in a polka band named Musical Stylists, as music was his second love after wife and family.
