One investment that you can make today to secure your peace of mind is to plan
and fund your funeral before the need arises.
It's a Reflection of Your Good Planning.
What is involved in Pre-planning?
Simply, in advance, a person makes selections and expresses his/her wishes
in regard to his/her own funeral. Some advantages to this process include:
- Lets you make your wishes known, so your loved ones won't have to guess..
- Eliminates emotional overspending from grief or guilt and can bring peace
of mind to your family's decision-making.
- You can pre-fund your funeral arrangements so your other assets will benefit
the persons or organizations for which you intended them.
- Allows you to pre-fund your funeral at today's prices so your decisions are
protected against inflation. Here's how it works - You pay Today's funeral price
- We guarantee future service at no additional costs to your loved one. The plan
that you select pays the future funeral price due to inflation. The longer your
prearranged fund is in effect, the more interest it will accrue. If there is excess
money in your funeral fund after payment, it is returned to your designated beneficiary.
- Properly executed State approved insured Pre-Planning plans are exempt as
a countable asset for Medicaid benefits. In addition, the growth of the benefits
is not reportable as income.

Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd. is the only funeral home in the area offering Memorial
Tribute Videos. In addition, we provide picture boards, so families may share
their favorite snapshots with family and friends
During each service, family and friends are encouraged to write their fondest
memory of the deceased on our "Fond Memory Sheets", which are then collected
in a Memorial Scrapbook for the family to cherish.
Families are encouraged to display their loved ones memorabilia, hobbies and
interests, so as to honor the talents and creativity of their deceased loved one.
Our Directors are accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Whether a death

Professional Service
Our commitment to providing high professional and ethical service is the
cornerstone of our independently owned and family operated funeral home.
Our Licensed Funeral Directors firmly believe that through continuing education
we are able to provide our community with the finest service in the funeral industry
today. That is why each of our directors currently hold or are pursuing their
designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP). The designation
is awarded by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. The purpose
of the Academy is:
- to provide recognition to funeral service practitioners for the commitment
to maintaining and improving themselves and their profession through life-long
learning and continuing education
- to raise and improve the professional standards of funeral service education
by giving special recognition to the practitioners who complete certain qualifying
activities
- to identify and recognize those practitioners who have voluntarily entered
a program of professional growth and development, and
- to encourage practitioners to make continuing education a life-long process
in their own self-interest, the interest of the persons they serve and the community
which they serve.
As part of our highly professional standards, we believe in the necessity of
supporting and abiding by the Pennsylvania Funeral Director Laws, Rules and Regulations
and the Federal Laws governing the Funeral Industry. In so doing, our directors
are licensed through the State of Pennsylvania by the State Board of Funeral Service.
So we may provide the option of Advanced Funeral Planning utilizing the Burial
Insurance option, Deann K. Mountain-Felix has also completed the necessary requirements
to be a Licensed Pennsylvania Life and Fixed Annuities Resident Agent.
Community Service
Every employee of Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd. is involved in our community
in some way or another. Whether through our memberships in our respected churches,
civic organizations or extra-curricular activities, we are active participants
in the Penn Hills and Plum Boro Communities.
Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd. is proud to be an affiliate of the Lofty Oaks Association.
For each service we conduct, we request that a tree be planted in the state of
Pennsylvania in memory of the deceased. Since our partnership into the Lofty Oaks
Association in 1992, over 5000 trees have been planted.
At Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd. our services are not completed after the deceased
is buried or cremated. We realize that our service is only the beginning of your
journey through grief and we provide support groups, programs and literature to
help you. Our support groups meet in the Spring and in the Fall. We also have
listings of all of the support groups that are held in the area, so that your
schedule can be accommodated.
Another program that we offer is the Christmas Memorial Program. We understand
that the holidays can be a trying and stressful time of year for someone who has
lost a loved one. Therefore, since 1995, Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd. has hosted
the Memorial Program at the beginning of December. During our program, the speaker
offers ideas and insights as to how to best handle the up-coming Yuletide Season.
We conclude our program with a Candle Lighting Ceremony in which every person
who had died in the previous year is remembered. This candle on which is the deceased
name and date of death is presented to the family after the program to take home
and cherish. This Light of Hope is intended to shine brightly throughout the holiday
season.
As part of our continued service our Roth Chapel houses our Grief Library.
There is quite a selection of books, pamphlets, videos and even audio-tapes dealing
with the topic of grief, loss and bereavement. Some of the literature is for generalized
grief while others focus on specific types of grief and loss, such as suicide,
AIDS, loss of a child and so forth. Our library is open to the public and continues
to grow.
